Where to buy wood for box making?

Post by Themassiveant » Mon Feb 12, 2018 11:10 pm

Hi, first time post here so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.

I’m having trouble finding somewhere I can buy wood for box making. Nowhere seems to sell thin (under half inch) lengths of uniform nicely finished wood (either pine or hardwood). I don’t have an electric planer and am mostly dependent on hand tools. Any thin pieces I do find tend to be poor quality and are warped. So far been looking in builders yards, timber yards and wood recycling centres. I’m based in Derby and really struggling to find good quality material to work with.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Try your local joinery shop, they will most probably give you a bunch of off cuts.
