AC Laquer / Pre Cat

Hi all, Im making some shelving for a walk in wardroe. Birch ply cabinet with painted face frame - you know the sort of thing.

When i made my kitchen I used Acid Catalyst Laquer - which was very hard wearing - ideal for a kitchen - but was HORRIBLE stuff to put on.

Is Pre Catalyst Laquer less toxic. or is there something a little less heavy duty I can use, such as water based lacquer ? I basically want to spray the birch ply units with somehing to give it a finish and some protection.... but realistically its not going to be subject to the abuse of a kitchen

Thanks

Richard

I have used Morrells waterbourne laquer, very little smell.

I also use the waterborne lacquer from Morrells.
Where are you based? If you’re near East Sussex I have some you can try, or a sprayed sample you can look at.

I order direct from the local Morrells branch (Brighton) which is about 20 miles away and they do free delivery.
You have to have an account with them but it’s easy to set one up.

I went to Morrells....very difficult people.
Brighton said they wont deliver to me and Maidstone is my area, so I should contact them.....Maidstone said they dont deliver to me either, but kindly advised and joked they have to pass my house (literally) to get to somewhere further South than me to deliver....very odd.

Ended up buying the stuff from Maidstone branch and it was £10 more than online.

Think ill but it online next time !

Pre cat isnt as strong, just smells of peardrops. The smell diesnt linger as long after spraying either.
