White spots

Postby Janner » Tue Jul 31, 2018 8:54 pm

Hi all. Relative newbie here. Wonder if you can help. I`ve recently made a wooden piece for a friend. It`s a piece of yew, sealed with 2 coats of Liberon Spirit Sanding Sealer, then Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish. It looked great, and it was placed out in the sun on a very hot day, before being brought back in doors. within 36 hours, white spots appeared. I took it back, wondering if there was a fault with the sealer, and cut the wax back with some white spirit, and rubbed the white spots which disappeared temporarily, but they keep returning. Any ideas as to what it is, whats causing it, and how to prevent them recurring? Thanks in advance

Could be silica, I have it in some Iroko windows in my house seems to come and go.
I believe there is a product that deals with it, I've not used it.
