Tuss,
An ox (plural oxen), is also known as a bullock in Australia, New Zealand and India. It's just a bovine trained as a draft animal. Oxen are usually castrated adult male cattle. So I guess an oxtail is same as the tail of a normal bovine. (Maybe the absence of balls makes a taste difference? Either way, they taste delicious with some seasoning, onions a touch of garlic and a tin of blitzed tomatoes. (spices to taste) Boiled slowly for a couple of hours, and the meat stripped off the bone. result, a thick, meaty soup!
I'll get one tomorrow I think!
Cheers Tuss.
