Hi Guys
It's always been an ambition of mine to build a timber speed boat. Tho this will be a project for a long way in the future as I just don't have the time or health to be messing around in boats.
However I have been looking for a long term project to keep me ticking over in the workshop and I'm considering making a scaled motorised model boat. I have some experience with RC Cars in my youth.
This is the sort of design I'd want, both for the model and the future full scale.
Thing is, I wouldn't know where to start! Would there be plans for this sort of thing? I'd want to do it from scratch, not a kit.

I have to say that every time someone links to these plans I loose about 1/2 hour of my day instantly. I love looking at the plans and dream of making something that floats one day. Given that I am in Southampton and there is not shortage of water to play only makes it worse. Still, it's nice to dream....maybe one day when the kids are a bit oder......

they have boat plans , and I think RC plans too, so you might be able to combine them and make an RC boat

thanks Nibbs. I have been doing some reading today and I think I am going to go for a kit model. With no boat building experience, I'm unlikely to 'get it right' first time. It will at least give me some exposure to boat building terms and mechanisms.

Not sure what the cost of those plans are but selway urge you to make a scale model before you start building the big boat . They are the plans that the boat builders use so it may be money saving to buy the full plans and scale them down to really understand boat building . On the other hand i can tell you that the plans did my head in and took weeks to work them out .

lol I'm a bit thick Jason. Probably best I work on a kit first and then work my way up to scaling down plans.
