Evening all. I've been asked to make a pair of French doors and frame in oak for a builder and I'm looking for recommendations for multi-point locking.Sounds simple enough but the way I construct the doors may be an issue for MPL .
The doors will be double glazed so they will be 54mm thick.
Now what I usually do when I rebate them together is :
A 15mm deep rebate which is offset from the centre. The reason I do this is so I can fit a standard sash lock without using a rebate kit. This allows me to fit AQ21 along the whole length of the meeting stile (slave door) instead of the old way where you have to cut the AQ21 either side of the lock keep.
I also bevel the rebates at 3-4 degrees so if the doors swell up a little they rarely need easing because they are beveled. All to do with the radius that the doors swing round,if you get my drift.Offsetting the lock does mean I usually need to have longer keys cut but thats no big deal.
So, basically anyone know of a MPL system that can be used in a pair of doors rebated together (offset) and the doors are Oak or do I have to go back to the old way and rebate the meeting stiles in the centre and cut the AQ21 around the lock keep?. .......
Any help would be appreciated Leveller....

Re: Multi point licking for french doors.......
Leveller ,
I would recommend VBH, ask for Paul in technical, he has more knowledge on multi point lock's than the manufacturers.
Or I noticed Whitehill are now producing a cutter for French doors and they also had some tie up with the hardware.....
