Painting Metal....NOT WOOD

Hi, I am restoring a old commercial Gaggia coffee machine to put in my kitchen.

Anyway, I want to re-spray the galvanised metal panels Ferrari red, and want to do it with my HVLP. The existing paint is knackered in areas.

What is the best paint to use ? I started researching but I'm slightly confused by it al, 2 pack, cellulose etc etc l. Also, do I need to remove all the old paint or can I just sand down thoroughly with wet and dry up to 400 grit and paint over. ?

Any help would be appreciated. If its too complicated to do at home I can pay a local firm to do it but id prefer to do it myself.

What about chemically stripped then powder coated maybe.

Thanks Jon - you know of anywhere locally that does that sort of thing - this one might be a job for the pros

they can mix paint and put it in rattle cans from small jobs like this

celly is safer than 2K, which will kill you without proper filter masks

Thanks , ill give them a try. I started stripping the old paint off - what an awful job stripping paint is !

I stripped by hand (took aggggggges) bought the paint mixed from local spray store and sprayed it from sprayer - and it turned out OK

I'm well pleased .
