Touch me up...

Everything I'm doing at the moment is finished with morrells a/c lacquer (clear and pigmented).

What do people do about touch ups on-site (chance'd be a fine thing)?

What do people reckon as to the mini spray guns running of a mini compressor? An absolute no-no? Might work?

I know morrells do the aerosols for this purpose, but not with a/c and it's a bit of ball-ache organising it. I like the idea of a mini pps ready gun for a quick psssss psssss ps ps pssss.

Hi Pete, I've done it on a repair to a nasty scratch on a mid sheen cabinet, got away with it!
I used a small compressor and a low cfm gun, think it was a Devilbis SLG.
I now have a turbine set up so would feel more confident now.
What's the damage you have fix?
I'm not the greatest sprayer but do smaller project myself. Good luck with it.

It no big bits of damage- just the usual unavoidable scuffs that always seem to happen.

I was wondering about an airbrush system... Seems like a hell of a faff though!

I think the needle/ air cap size would be too small on an airbrush for a/c laq.

Incidentally, if I was to try and buy some spares for my devilbiss 'signature 2' gun from morrells, does anyone know what model of gun this actually is so I don't have to use morrells?

Turn the pressure down you might be surprised what it can do, I have a reg on the bottom of the gun for this,

So since my lost post on this thread, I have been trying various options...

Initially I tried the Preval sprayer... That'll be a no then.

I have just given up with a 1.2mm needled iwata gun owing to insane overspray issues...

So now I'm going to have another go with my standard gun, pressure as low as possible, as you suggested Simon. The only reason I haven't tried this more thoroughly as of yet is that my portable compressor is tiny, and I'm a bit anxious to abuse it with a spray gun... It is only for small touch ups though I suppose.

Any thoughts on getting a dedicated HVlP setup for sits touch ups? I know it seems overkill/unnecessary, but I would enjoy the piece of mind knowing IF required, I can carry out very acceptable re-working. There is bug*er all on the internet relating to this for cabinet spraying!

As always, any info people have would be eagerly listened to!

If your only doing small touch ups it's just a tuufff, look at how it turned out and then maybe another tuuffff, by the time you've looked at it your compressor will have caught up surely? You can by aerosols you can fill with you're own paint but I've never tried them.

I normally do a pfffttt, which seems to work, maybe I'll try a tuufff next time!

I take my earlex hv5000 onsite for minor touch ups, never had a problem. Even when going right up to an edge, I just hold some cardboard or something and move it while I spray.
