Osmo range

Who knew Osmo did so many varieties of oily stuff, well everyone probably, but I didn't!

Any opinions on both, I'm thinking specifically on the sort of wear associated with tables, worktops, etc.......

Osmo Polyx - used a lot of this, nice finish, but had a few grumbles on resilience (Osmo says very water resistant)
Osmo Top Oil - never tried this, has anyone? (Osmo says extremely water resistant, is this more so than above)

I happened across Osmo Wood Protector, billing itself as a primer for the above, for extra protection.

and then, there's Spray PolyX from their industrial range, which I had definitely never heard of! Now that's interesting for finishing in volume. I don't mind taking time over finishing a dining table for example, but thinking about a pile of 20 shelves for instance. Has anyone tried this?

Or do I just sack them all off and use lacquer more often Damn I'm confused!

This was soaked overnight in Wood Protector, wiped off and allowed to dry, then 3-4 coats of Polyx on top. It's been out in all weathers since October. The whiteness is dried splashes from the chalky soil, and quite possible some bird sh*t too.



I did a bathroom (cabinets etc.) in Wood protector plus Polyx. That was, ooh, 8 years ago? No call backs yet.

Thanks for that Nick, that's certainly lasting up well after a good wintering. I didn't even know Wood Protector existed, let alone worked! If it can survive a bathroom then........

I feel a pint glass test coming up on a couple of pieces. That's been the main grumble, only from a couple of customers, but they happen to be ones with jolly expensive tables so stressed me out! Water/ring marks from a glass or vase, that they swear weren't on very long or indeed very wet. We've gone for a polish out and a coat or two more of PolyX.
