I have sanded a piece of Ash with a very prominent grain pattern using a range of grits. The finish is amazing however I can still feel the rise and fall of the grain pattern when I run my hand over it. The more I sand the more prominent it becomes, the ripples are about half an inch wide. How do I sand it flat?
Also, while I am on the topic I am struggling to use a hand plane without leaving tiny indentations. My shavings are paper fine, is this just a fact of planing? I have sanded them out, but it would be nice not to have them in the first place!
Many thanks, hoping that someone can save me some elbow grease
