Osmo oil 420

Postby MRS CHISEL » Mon Dec 28, 2015 6:52 pm

Has anyone used Osmo oil? I put a coat on some oak a couple of days ago and it is still tacky.

Is this normal? Feels 'orrible at the moment!

Cheers

Is this something inside or outside? If outside it may take a while in this weather. Note that you need to apply any oil very thinly and after 10 minutes wipe any excess off. If it is still tacky then use some white spirit to clean it of and start again.

I've had exactly the same problem.I think I'll have to sand back to "no tacky part"
I think its the cold damp weather

+1. I've had this happen as well. Either the temperature is too low, or the coat too thick, or the oil was not stirred sufficiently thoroughly. Wipe off with white spirit and allow to dry. Stir oil in can thoroughly. Recoat very thinly using a lint free cloth.

Yes this happens when its too cold and is a nightmare! I once had a heater pointed at a door. It eventually dried but once I turned the heater off it went back to being sticky!
