Anyone identify type of timber from sea defence
We tried to mill this timber today using the Woodmiser sawmill but it is like rock! Anyone any idea what kind of timber it is and what it might be useful for. There is also pieces wich look like Oak from the same sea defence posts. Are these any good for turming?

Welcome to the forum. I think you need to make a couple more posts before the software will allow you to post pictures. However in all likelihood if the timber has been used as part of a groyne, then it is almost certainly Greenheart - see here for details http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/greenheart/

Cheers for that info and link to the database; well handy. It says its good for turning on the database. My Dad gave me a boat fishing rod when i was a kid which he said was made from greenheart. He got it from uncle joe who was a POW in Japanese camp. So Joe came home a broken man, with only this rod.... So the story goes! What about the deep red bit of groin? Any idea?

Yep, most certainly greenheart.
The deep red bit could be a friction burn.
