Just thought i would show you the current kitchen i am working on.As part of the island section there
is a curved barrel shaped unit somthing i have never done before. Just thought i would show you how
i have done it. Thanks for looking.

New kitchen design


Laminating curved base rail in 2mm tulip wood


Side sections done in bendi mdf with a 4mm tulip veneer on the face


Doweled and ready to glue


Glueing up, used Tregarne wood welder to set glue


Made cutters for curved door sections


Used template to rout 12mm groove for panels


Shown with groove in


Styles grooved and doweled


Mid rail and chopping board holes chopped out


Curved skirting added


Doors made and ready to fit

I remember seeing something like that at a woodworking show. Never seen it for sale anywhere though.

Have a look at this page and scroll down to the little pictures. This German company seems to make something very similar.

Probably bleedin' expensive though, as their flexi curve stuff is made out of only the most expensive unobtainium.

I've got one of those for the OF1010.

The kitchen looks great for that style.

Not to pick holes, but the garden looks a bit monotonous.

I used the cabinet as the template, glued 3 pieces of 6mm bendi mdf then 3x 2mm
tulip wood. then made a top section of 40mm x 25mm made up of tulip laminate and glued
it to the top so i had solid wood to rout the profile on.

Looks really good mate.
It's good to see someone else shaping the stiles. Flat stiles ruin the look of a curved door, in my opinion.
Why did you dowel the joints, as opposed to tenoning them? All you need is a jig for the spindle (outside rad of rails) to cradle the rail as it passes the cutter(s)?

The software that I use is Articad, been using it
About 8 years now great bit of kit, it did cost £4,500
But it does get me a lot of work. The kitchen you are looking
At is for a new build so its great for the customer to see
